A few examples: some schools set up a micro business where a core group of pupils take responsibility on a rota basis for the hens care. Classes can involve costing out the hens feed and bedding. Selling the hens eggs or using them within the school.
Less confident readers could sit reading with the hens which being in a different environment can help bring out a new found confidence. Researching and finding ways how to enrich the hens lives through points of interest in their pens.
To help us fund all this we work tirelessly running re-homing events and attending fundraising events. Along with this we are running The Great Chicken Run which enables schools to get involved and pupils help us to fund raise – Each participant received a medal and a certificate. It would be great if you would join us!
